Oven not heating?
Five checks that can fix the issue — no tools needed.
1. Check the mode and temperature.
Make sure it's set to Bake — not Broil, not Timer, and that a temperature is actually entered. It sounds obvious; it's the most common cause there is.
2. Look for a delay or lock mode.
A delayed-start timer, child lock, demo mode, or Sabbath mode can silently block heating. If the display shows any icon you don't recognize, press and hold Clear/Off for a few seconds.
3. Check the door lock after self-clean.
After a self-clean cycle the door stays locked until the oven fully cools — sometimes an hour or more. If the lock icon is on, give it time.
4. Check the breaker panel.
Ovens run on a double breaker, and half of it can trip — the stovetop or display may still work while the oven itself stays cold. Flip the range breaker fully off, then on.
5. Watch it preheat.
Electric: the lower element should glow evenly within a few minutes — dark patches or blistering mean the element is done. Gas: listen for the igniter clicking and confirm other gas appliances in the home work. If you ever smell gas, stop, open windows, and leave the appliance off.
Still cold? Stop there.
If none of that worked, the likely causes — heating element, igniter, temperature sensor, control board — aren't do-it-yourself territory.
